It is a core belief of Duncanville Independent School District that quality schools encourage and sustain quality of life, freedom, democracy, and economic growth. In order to continue Duncanville ISD’s mission to provide each student with the necessary skills to achieve lifelong success and contribute to a global society, the district must move forward with a plan to address its growth and facility needs.
Duncanville ISD is considering a possible bond election in November 2014 and has chosen to form a Facility Advisory of Citizens, Teachers and Students (FACTS) Committee.
A FACTS Committee is a group of community members that come together to study the facility needs of the school district and recommend a package to the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees to put before voters in a bond election. A FACTS Committee is invaluable to the planning process because it allows the district to hear from and incorporate many different perspectives from people in the community.
The FACTS Committee will study current district financial data, results of a community-wide survey, a district-wide facilities assessment, demographic information and project options and cost analysis. The committee will also take tours of existing district facilities and work collectively to develop a bond package that meets the district’s needs.
This website has been created solely for this process and includes a list of the committee members, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, all documentation reviewed by the committee, as well as a place for community members to submit questions to the district. The website will be updated on a weekly basis as the committee works through the process.
DISD is confident this process will help make the best decisions for our students and looks forward to working with the community on this important effort.
